Today I learned a new word.
"Ish"
As in, we'll be there around 10:00...ish. The culture here is much different than our North American way where we do everything on the hour or half hour. We have clocks on our walls, our cel phones, our microwaves and stoves, our PVR's etc etc. Our lives run by time. Our friends here in South America are not too concerned about time. They are more "event" driven. The meeting will start "When we all arrive". Those whom are early enjoy the break, those who are late don't appear to be apologetic or in a hurry. Steve and I are learning much patience and getting good at it.
This morning Chris is going to pick us up at 9ish. We might be ready, or we might not be. We'll see how we feel. It's kinda refreshing, I think I can get used to it.
The 3 of us met at the library in the Aldeia Training Center today for a few hours in a more formal setting. We discussed a variety of topics concerning the mission aid work Chris is doing.
Topics such as where his time is being spent, where is he most needed, communication between boards and the mission workers. The talks are open and frank and we appreciate the trust relationship we have in our brother to be able to communicate in this fashion.
Tomorrow is Sunday and an opportunity to visit some of our churches in the Recife area. But for now it's time to wind down....I hope to be in bed by 11.......ish.....
Have a blessed Lord's Day!
